We’ve all had the midweek cheeseburger craving, but you must not ruin your progress with one bad fast food meal. The quality of meat, the sodium, and who knows what else they put in those burgers these days is not good for you and you know it. Luckily our feathered friend the turkey offers a great alternative with ingredients that you most likely have in your house. Follow the instructions below and in the same amount of time it would take you to drive to a drive thru and back you will have a (in a Samuel L. Jackson voice) TASTY BURGER!
Recipe Makes Two Patties. Use all natural and organic ingredients!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 Pound Ground Turkey
- 1 Egg
- 1/4 Cup Oat Bran
- 1/4 Small Sweet Onion Finely Chopped
- 2 Cloves Minced Garlic
- TSP Worcestersire Sauce
- TSP Onnit Himalayan Salt
- TSP Ground Black Pepper
- TSP Onnit Coconut Oil
Optional Toppings: Real Cheese (none of that singles stuff), Baby Spinach, Sliced Organic Vine Tomato, Dill Pickle, Veganaise, Ketchup (No High Fructose Corn Syrup)
Coat a pan with a teaspoon of Onnit Coconut Oil and heat to low-medium. In a large bowl, combine the turkey, egg, oat bran, onion, garlic, worcestershire sauce, himalayan salt, and black pepper. Separate the mixture in half and form into two balls. Once the pan and oil is up to a low-medium heat, place the ball in the pan and press down with a spatula to form a patty. Try to form the patty just a tad bigger width wise than your bun size. Nobody likes it when their bun is bigger than their patty. Cook about 4 minutes per side or until the patty is fully cooked and no pink remains.
Serve on whole wheat buns. If you want a gluten free option, try Ezekial’s frozen hamburger buns.
